Smith, sister Taylor Grandparents Thomas Withers, MAMGA member of 50+ years. and Dr. and Mrs. Roy Smith and Elnora Washam.
Education: Senior, John L. Leflore High School.
Queen Gabrielle participates in various activities
including Students Working Against Tobacco, the swim team, the yearbook staff, Moving Images Dance Company and the pre-law
program.
She enjoys doing community service through the Culturama Program sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
She is president of the Imperial Knights Service Club and is on the Bel Air Mall Teen Board. She has received the Mohawk Foundation
Scholarship, was named Miss Freshman in 2006, a Junior Class Favorite and Homecoming Queen in 2009. She attends Mount Olive
AME Zion Church in Prichard. She plans to attend Tuskegee University and major in secondary education, and is considering
law school after that.
Gabrielle has a family heritage of past Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association royalty. Her mother served in the court of King
Elexis I,
Alvin Sylvester and Queen Gayle Ross (Sylvester) as a train barrier in 1971. Her grandfather Mr. Thomas Withers
served in the royal court as a knight in 1957 to King Elexis I Nathaniel Steinback and Queen Greta Janice Trenier.
Her aunt, Dr. Royshanda C. Smith reigned as Queen in 2002. Favorite
author: Maya Angelou “Love life, engage in it, give it all you’ve got. Love it with a passion, because life truly does give
back, many times over, what you put into it.” She also would like to thank her family for their continued support
through her life. Also, the members of M.A.M.G.A for this opportunity for making this a dream come true.
